Publix Offering Free Meds

Yes, It’s True:

Lakeland, Florida-based Publix is offering generic antibiotics, metformin and lisinopril for FREE in all of their 1,071 supermarkets throughout Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee. There are no strings attached and no conditions.

The grocer is offering a 30-day supply (90 tablets) of generic immediate-release metformin (500mg, 850 mg, and 1000 mg) FREE, with no limitations on the number of refills. All strengths of generic lisinopril are free. Lisinopril-hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) combination products are excluded.

According to their website, Publix is also giving away up to a 14-day supply of the following generic oral antibiotics:

  • Amoxicillin

  • Ampicillin

  • Cephalexin (capsules and suspension only)

  • Sulfamethoxazole/Trimethoprim (SMZ-TMP)

  • Ciprofloxacin (excluding Ciprofloxacin XR)

  • Penicillin VK

That’s great news for those of us in the South. Let me know if you hear of other, similar programs elsewere.

Keeping a good eye out,
