Your Members Already Have Scripta. Here’s How to Help them Make the Most of It.

During open enrollment, employees have plenty of questions about what their benefits cover and how to use them. It’s a good time to answer a few about Scripta, too: what it does, why members may hear from us and where they can turn for help finding a lower-cost prescription option.
Members are automatically enrolled in Scripta through their employer or health plan, and we reach out with personalized prescription savings opportunities throughout the year. A little education during open enrollment can help members recognize those opportunities and feel more confident exploring them—whether they’re taking a medication they’ve used for years or filling a new prescription.
Here are the questions members are likely to ask, with helpful, straightforward answers you can use in open enrollment materials and year-round communications. And your benefits team doesn’t have to guide members through every decision alone: Scripta is here to answer their questions and help them take the next step if they choose to pursue an opportunity.
What Is Scripta?
Scripta is a free prescription savings benefit included with your health plan. It looks for lower-cost options for your prescriptions so you can make better-informed decisions about your health and what you pay.
Scripta provides personalized options based on your prescriptions and health plan. You can review your options and decide if you want to switch to a lower-cost prescription.
I Don’t Remember Enrolling in Scripta. Is It Part of My Benefits?
Yes. You’re automatically enrolled in Scripta through your employer or health plan, so you don’t need to select it separately during open enrollment.
If Scripta contacts you about a prescription, it’s because it may have found an option worth a closer look.
How can Scripta help me save?
There’s more than one way Scripta helps you lower your prescription cost. Depending on your medication and plan, Scripta may show you options such as:
Filling your prescription at a different pharmacy
Using a coupon or discount card
Comparing what you’d pay through your plan with a cash-pay price
Changing how a prescription is filled, such as its form or days’ supply
Asking your doctor about a lower-cost medication alternative
Not every option will apply to every prescription. Scripta helps you compare the possibilities so you can make an informed choice.
Do I have to change my medication?
No. Some opportunities let you save without changing medications. Others may involve an alternative medication for you and your doctor to consider.
Scripta shows you your options; it doesn’t require you to make a switch. If a new prescription is needed, your doctor decides whether that change is appropriate for you.
Are the medication alternatives clinically reviewed?
Yes. Scripta’s medication recommendations are grounded in clinical review, not price alone.
If you’re interested in an alternative that requires a new prescription, your doctor reviews the request and makes the prescribing decision. Don’t stop or change a medication without your doctor’s guidance.
Do I need to figure out a switch on my own?
No. A Scripta member advocate or pharmacist can answer questions and help you understand your next steps. When needed, Scripta can help contact your prescriber to request a new prescription or support a pharmacy transfer.
You can also request help through the Help Me Switch feature in the Scripta app, if it’s available through your plan.
How do I know whether an option is worth it?
Start with your personalized Savings Report or the options shown in the Scripta app. You can compare what you may pay and see what the change would involve.
A lower price is useful information, but it isn’t the only consideration. Think about whether a different pharmacy is convenient for you, whether a coupon changes how you pay and whether a medication alternative is right for you and your doctor. If you have questions, a Scripta team member can help you make sense of your options.
What if I don’t have a savings opportunity right now?
That may mean Scripta hasn’t found a lower-cost option for your current prescriptions. It doesn’t mean you’ll never have one.
Prices, coverage and prescriptions can change. You can check your options again when you start a new medication or hear from Scripta about a new opportunity.
What should I do if I receive a message from Scripta?
Take a look. Review the prescription, the option Scripta found, what you may save and any steps needed to move forward with it.
You’re in control of whether to explore an opportunity. And if a medication change requires a new prescription, your doctor has the final say.
Help Members Make the Most of Scripta—With Support at Every Step
Open enrollment is a natural time to remind members that Scripta is already part of their benefits. But you don’t have to introduce the benefit or answer every prescription question on your own. Scripta can work with your team to help members understand what it does, recognize its communications and know where to turn when they have questions.
That support continues throughout the year. When Scripta identifies a potential savings opportunity, we help members understand their options and decide whether they want to pursue one. A member advocate or pharmacist can answer questions, help contact a prescriber when a new prescription is needed and support a pharmacy transfer when appropriate.
Your team doesn’t have to take on the work of guiding each member through a prescription decision. We’re here to help members feel informed and supported from the first message through the next step they choose to take – so they can make the most of their benefit, and your organization can capture savings when opportunities are realized.
